The Forgotten Road

Official lyric archive for Abu Sayed’s song ‘The Forgotten Road’. Written, composed, and owned by the artist.

I found your shadow on the midnight gravel
Taking me back to the heat we had
Every mile is a memory unraveling
Pulling me close when I want it bad
Tangled up close in the motel sheets
Skin against skin as the shadows play
Tracing the lines where the passion meets
Wishing the morning would hide away
The embers glow in the dark of the evening
I feel your breath on the back of my neck
No sense in running or trying to leave it
This beautiful ruin, this perfect wreck
We're burning up on the forgotten road
Taking it slow where the headlights fade
Sharing the secrets that nobody knows
Lost in the fire that our bodies made
Riding the edge of a dangerous thrill
Taking it further, I know we will
The leather seats and your sweet perfume
Intoxicating as we cross the line
The tension building in the empty room
Our fingers tracing every sweet design
The embers glow in the dark of the evening
I feel your breath on the back of my neck
No sense in running or trying to leave it
This beautiful ruin, this perfect wreck
We're burning up on the forgotten road
Taking it slow where the headlights fade
Sharing the secrets that nobody knows
Lost in the fire that our bodies made
Riding the edge of a dangerous thrill
Taking it further, I know we will
The miles fall away when I look in your eyes
Nothing but truth in the fading light
Out in the wild under open skies
Echoing promises holding us tight
Sayed will keep you warm through the night
Forever burning in this endless flame
I never wanted anything but this
Just you, me, and the open dark
We're burning up on the forgotten road
Taking it slow where the headlights fade
Sharing the secrets that nobody knows
Lost in the fire that our bodies made
